Be Update - March 2019

Explain this in NZSL.

March Newsletter

This week we, like all New Zealanders, have been reeling from the shock of the horrific events in Christchurch on Friday 15th March.  From all the team at Be. Accessible, we send our love and support to all affected.

We truly believe in a New Zealand where all people are valued and included.  Especially at this time we are so grateful to all of those of you who are on this journey with us to create a more inclusive Aotearoa New Zealand.

Be. Employed

Last month in partnership with the Industry Partnerships team at the Ministry for Social Development and Microsoft New Zealand we launched an exciting new employment programme which provides innovative professional development opportunities for individuals who are hitting barriers to find the career of their choosing. The programme is designed specifically for talented New Zealanders who have a long-term health condition, injury or disability.

Our goal is to match talented 21st Century savvy New Zealanders with access needs and a diverse range of employers in areas such as Design, Innovation and Technology, Tourism and Professional Services.

Be. Leadership

Last month we welcomed 16 awesome new Be. Leaders onto the Be. Leadership Programme.

In our first session for 2019 we considered the big topic of "What is Leadership?" Visit our Be. Leadership blog to read one of our 2019 Be. Leaders’ reflection on the session.

Be. Welcome

Last year we announced our partnership with Halberg Disability Sport Foundation, DOC and Fabriko, looking at mapping New Zealand’s top walkways, cycleways and waterways with accessibility in mind. This fantastic partnership is creating exciting possibilities for access. Read more over on our blog.

Access Win of the Month

Amazing work by Inkl. Design GmbH- these tactile paintings at City Museum in Oldenburg Germany are awesome! They are also accompanied by tactile/interactive brochure and audiodescription.

It's incredible to see what is possible when the user is at the heart of the design process.
