Law in a Nutshell Workshops

Mangere Community Law Centre and Auckland Disability Law would like to invite you to register for this Law in a Nutshell programme which is specially focused on disability and your legal rights. 
 
Sessions covered include:

  • Introduction to the Law & Disability Law in Aotearoa New Zealand
  • Education Law:  Right to an education, special education, discrimination, disciplinary processes for disabled students and youth justice processes for people with disabilities.
  • Employment Law: Pre-employment rights, handling problems at work, Minimum Wage Exemptions and discrimination.
  • Criminal Law, Police & Courts:  Disabled people connecting with police and navigating the courts.
  • Family Law and Domestic Violence: our rights and processes  
  • Health & Disability Code, Privacy Act and Consumer Law.
  • Wills & Powers of Attorney, and personal safety.      
  • Tenancy Law: Our rights as tenants, sorting out problems, and the social housing system.

This free eight week programme runs every Wednesday, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm, starting 4 May 2016 to 22 June 2016.

  • Name, email address, contact phone number and access requirements.

Sessions are free.  Morning tea will be provided.  The sessions start at 9.30 am.
 
Access Requirements ­

  • Venue: Seminar Room, Mangere Community Law Centre, Shop 27 (near NZ Post Shop), Waddon Place, Mangere Town Centre.  The venue is wheelchair accessible.
  • If you require an NZSL interpreter to be booked, please advise us by 22 April 2016.
  • Please let us know if you require written resources ahead of time for your braille reader or for your access requirements.
  • If you need workshop material adapted for your understanding, you are welcome to bring a support person, caregiver, family member or agency with you.
  • Please let us know if you have any other access requirements.
