Bring your proven communications and engagement experience to a diverse role working in Whaikaha - Ministry of Disabled People. The Ministry of Social Development is the host agency of Whaikaha and provides some shared services into its Communications and Engagement team.
About the team
The Whaikaha Communications and Engagement team is a small, diverse group of people dedicated to supporting the Ministry to drive change and deliver better outcomes for disabled people and whānau. This team undertakes a wide variety of work for Whaikaha, including digital strategy, design, engagement, events, external communications, internal communications and social media.
What you will be doing?
Developing communications and engagement plans
Delivering a significant rightsholder and stakeholder engagement project
Working closely with rightsholders and stakeholders, including tāngata whaikaha Māori
Preparing regular communications for rightsholders and stakeholders
Preparing briefing documents
Who we are looking for?
It’s important that you possess a good understanding and insight into disability. You will be an experienced communicator and an excellent writer with proven community engagement experience. It is desirable that you have an understanding of tikanga Māori.
Preference is given to those who:
Have lived experience of disability
Have a passion for people changing their lives for the better
Have networks in the disability community
This is an ANZSCO level 4/5 role so New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency at time of application is required
