Hello and welcome to our May Newsletter! The year is flying by, and our fantastic Be. Lab Team have been busy doing the work with love, with amazing businesses who are committed to improving accessibility. We’ve also been busy reviewing our strategy and refreshing our services and offerings- but more about that later!
Today, 19th May 2022, is Global Accessibility Awareness Day, an opportunity to promote the importance of digital accessibility. We’re excited to share some resources that we’ve put together with Digital Boost to help small businesses get started on their Digital Accessibility Journey.
Last year we celebrated 10 years of Be, and all that we achieved, in our 10-year Impact Report. 2022 has been the perfect time to look at all that we have learned after a decade of working in the accessibility space, and ask how can we develop our programmes to achieve the most impact- especially with new accessibility legislation to be announced in July 2022. The landscape has changed significantly since we began in 2011. We have been reviewing our strategy, and asking, what is needed for the next 10 years of Be. Lab to make ensure our programmes can create meaningful change?
We’re excited to announce that as part of this review, we have a new leadership programme in development, looking at accessibility leadership in governance.
We’re also excited to welcome Ant Howard, as our new Executive Director. Ant is a long-standing member of the Be. Board, and has joined our team to bring his vast business and governance expertise to this mission, to achieve impact at all levels of organisations, including leadership and governance.
We’ll be announcing more about our exciting new programme developments soon.
For now, thank you for your commitment to accessibility. And thank you for joining us in our mission to make New Zealand the most accessible nation in the world.
